It's too bad you're not coming to GL and bringing the boat. I know of a great spot on BFN windshields that will open up beer bottles!! |

Kirk, Thanks for the pictures and you're correct that it doesn't look like there's a ID tag on it. You're going to have lots of fun with the boat. Enjoy it!
Well, unless I can come up with some more info on my Escort, it looks like I'm going to be buying a beer for Tim! |

I don't recall any tag, but I wasn't looking for one. Here are some pics. Just mail my consolation prize to Heman of Eagle Mountain Lake. It will find me...
My pics are too large. Follow this link to see engine pics. http://picasaweb.google.com/stateson1/BOATSTUFF |

Kirk, I need your help!! Check to see if you have a ID tag on your engine before I get even more "non original" comments from my friend Tim!!! If there is one, It would be great if you could post a picture but just telling us what it says will do too.
Tim, It will be a beer at the Goose Blind! |

Yup, 351w rated at 255hp like they said. Escort would have been the company that marinized the engine. Pete, how much you want to bet that he doesnt have a PCM ID tag on the intake manifold? |

Kirk, It's the Ford 351 with the 255 HP. The 302 would be 220 HP.

Kman, your engine is definitely a Ford, right? (distributor in front, oil filter on front righthand side mounted at an angle). I'm thinking 255 is the advertised horse power. So it's probably a 351W. If you have a 302 near by to compare.....the 351 has a taller block and wider intake manifold. The valve covers are spread wider apart as well. This is because the 351 has a longer stroke. Hope this helps some.

Just acquired a 1976 20' Southwind. Excellent condition overall but I want to do some preventive maintenance on the engine like ignition stuff and carb rebuild. The previous owner had the engine rebuilt in the 80's to get it to run on unleaded gas. The owners manual says it is an Escort 255. What the heck is that. Do I have a Ford engine? What do I tell the parts counter. Is it s 302, 351, etc.? Please help.
