Scratch selling the outdrive I just read that it doesnt come with it... makes the price more painful.

Well I agree with these guys its the wrong engine and its expensive minimally you would have to find a buyer for the outdrive to make it reasonable, but also understand trying to get on the water quickly.

To answer some of your questions, and some you didnt ask...

The 351w is wider than the 302 you have in there and depending your your motor box it wont fit.

The flywheel and harmonic balancer must be matched to the imbalance of the crank. If you need to use your flywheel or balancer you can take the one that is on the 351w now along with the one you want to use to a good engine balancer and he can drill out the new one so that it will work on the old. Your not going for a zero balance, thats not stock on any ford windsor, there are basically IIRC 28oz and 50oz setups and they change based on both 302 vs 351 and early vs late scenarios. Your exhaust manifolds can be used as can everthing else of the front of your motor. Using whats on the motor can be done but will require more work and possibly some part changes.

The transmission and bell housing are interchangeable between the two engines and the two directions with a pump rotation.

I could have that engine in there in a day and half and have a good summer with the boat, getting an engine rebuild done this time of year (racing season at least around here) is near impossible.

I agree with Doc 100%. That boat should have a RH engine- if your non-original lefty needs to be replaced, why not put a proper one back in?

$1500 for a used motor is pretty steep. You could buy a 302 core (or use your own) and have it rebuilt as good as new (in RH, like it should be) for just about equal money.

I bought the boat with a 302 standard rotation in it. I talked to the seller tonight, and he said it is a 351 w motor and the only thing that may be a problem is the fly wheel balancing. He said that I might be able to rebalance my 302 fly wheel to a zero balance. Does that sound right? Any other suggestions? I am going to look at the motor tomorrow. Thanks for your quick response Boat Dr.

Guys I need a quick answer. I need a motor for my 68 stang. I found one here in Seattle for $1500.00 It has a OMC outdrive on it. And a heat exchanger on it. He is giving everything with it ie.. Exhaust, carb, starter, complete motor minus the outdrive. Its a standard rotation motor. My motor is a 302 std rotation. So my questions are.
1. Can I use my Bell housing, BW Velvet drive tranny?
2.   Cooling- will I need to get rid of the heat exchanger and use the sherwood raw water pump?
3. What mods will I need to do if any?

Basically wondering if this a easy fit for my Boat. I want it in the water this summer. Thanks for any quick advice. This motor wont last the day before its gone. The pic is the motor for sale. Thanks

Bill
