As far as i know the tach and spedo are original, thats 25 years old, but still work. A gps would cost more than the boat.

Usually the speed vs. RPM gap grows bigger with speed, especially as you get close to WOT. It will get even larger with an increased load (skier in tow) so if that first figure is correct, then I suspect you were only pulling that barefooter 39-40 at most. You also may want to GPS the boat- the speedos may or may not be accurate! |

I have a 84 southwind , and I replaced the original prop,13x13 with a acme 1608. We ski and tube with 4 adults and 4 kids and a black lab.
Lots of weight in the boat at times. The 1608 has made all the difference in the world. With a full load in the boat ,full fuel, and me in the water( 230lb) It will pop me out on a slalom with no hesetation. 3150 rpm at 30mph . better on fuel . Dont know WOT numbers. I did pull a bare footer at 4300 rpm at 42mph for what its worth. |

How is the diameter of the shaft measured? Can this be done by just using a tape measure?

It has been in the water only twice in the last 5 years. The prop on it is a Federal 13x13 RH with a few dings.
I would like to purchase a new prop and send the current one to be refurbished. I am in central Kentucky. Suggestions on where to send the Federal for re-tooling? Thanks for the post back! |
