FYI   in the mid 80's ford went to a one piece rear main seal and at time started using the same crank for there left and right motors. the seal made the differance.

Most of the circ. pumps have non-directional impellers - but if you replace yours you should double-check.

Would this mean the engine water pump is also reverse rotation?

I've also heard the crank is turned in the opposite direction from a car or truck, has to do with the microscopic burs left after polishing facing the right direction for reverse rotation, And don't forget about the outrageously priced crank seals with opposite oil return ridges on them, and of course the distributor drive gear on the cam is bass ackwards to drive the distributor the normal direction in the reveres rotation scenario. Makes swapping in a create engine a drag.

hmmm...No cars... yes its called the Truck/Marine shortblock. Ford doesn't do the 4 bolt main thing on the windsors, thats a chevy thing.

The truck/marine shortblock has different rods and rod bolts, that permits more material to be left where it most necks down..
The rod bolt heads are round instead of the auto rod bolts, that are like a 'T' or some call them 'oval'.

The Marine heads are not machined for the thermacter air pump outlets in the exhaust port, but I think they have the material still there, in the way.

I think the the 351W was mostly used in Ford trucks. I cannot remember if mine had 2 or 4 bolts mains. But, if like Chevy's, a trunk engine would use the 4 bolt main whereas a car would probably use the 2 bolt main. Ford may not do this so...

It's the 351W, but most of them (except for recent years) are reverse rotation from a car, and they have many significant differences.

..and in what car was it basically installed?
