Steve, make sure you keep your hull properly protected . . . that tempra paint "skicuda" may crack and freeze.

Or you could winterize like I did. No chance of water hiding in these pieces...



Just makes getting it ready for 1st spring launch a bit more active.

If its just to fog it, cripes, just take the belt off and fog away, it won't build that much heat in under a minute. Just do it before you drain the water jackets.

Too late Chuck.... pumpkins been frosted on a couple of times already..   Then to add insult to injury, my son and I are planning to install the snowplows on our trucks in the next week or so.

MAN, it was a short summer!


We are going out for our last ski of the season this weekend. Its our Cdn Thanksgiving so we feel lucky to still be out.
I always take a couple days to pull the dock, store the boats, drain the cottage and rake the friggin leaves. All my neighbors pulled their boats two weeks ago... ya it was a short season!!!

The Chrysler's have always had the "goofy" set up. They have always pushed alot of water through their engines! Feeding both cavities of the RWP by hosing or with two fake-a-lakes is the way. Since you have the 360 transplant, the PO may have re plumbed it but you still may have the third hose down to the T next to one of the through hulls. This is the by pass before the T stat opens. I'm sure you have found the cooling block diagram in the ref. section.

Thanks for your input Thomas. My 68 has has a 360 transplant,and one of the first things I noticed when I got it, was the goofy raw water cooling set-up.

Sounds like I'll need to go buy a couple of pcs of hose. Thanks again!

That would be me. I have a '69 Barracuda with the exact same setup on a Chrysler 318. You can't hook up a single garden hose and supply water to both inlets like you need to without significant re-plumbing and it's a pain to get to both thru-hull intakes. Moreover, one of them splits in two as soon as it gets through the hull, so you have to hook up three places there to cover everything.

I bought two pieces of black hose (1.25" ID?) and hook it to the bottom two inlets on the pump. I get the biggest bucket or trash can I can find and fill it with water and throw the hoses over the side of the boat into bottom of the bucket. Then I leave the hose running in the bucket.

My boat pulls so hard, it easily outstrips the hose filling the trash can, but I get a few (about 5?) minutes before it empties the trash can. That tells me a single hose really isn't enough to keep adequate flow anyway, although I doubt you're looking at serious overheating issues so long as some water is flowing. But the two supplies go to different places, so you can't just hook one to a garden hose and run the motor that way. Something will get starved.

Just thinking ahead,Im getting ready to winterize my 68 'cuda :( (no smart-azz coments from you southerners! )

anyway,its got a funky cooling system with two water inlets thru the hull, to a dual impeller raw water pump. Im wondering about hooking water up to it so I can fog the engine. Im concerned that if I split my garden hose, it would not supply enough water to keep from starving an impeller. Anybody work with this style before?
