Guys - I replaced our observer with "Starlight" board. An oil base gray board. Also cut 3/4 holes near the under side of the leg lift that went all the way through the seat base (fiberglass support that swings up). This allows the water to drain out that gets caught inside the foam. I probably cut 20 holes in it. Works great!

I don't know about it being lighter. I just went to their site because I'm looking at options for floor material. They have a weight calculator, for a 1/4" 4x8 sheet it weighs 40lbs.

Like Benji I used exterior plywood but did not go as far with the resin. I used polyurethene which is easer and not quite as messy as resin. Benji's will be stronger and last longer but I'm 50 and the poly will Probably outlast me. Good luck!

I was thinking using King Starboard on my seats. My uncle did his floors on his 1978 29' Beltram and the material looked great. The water line came up a little since the material was ligther than the wood he had before. IMO, I thought it was great. I have seen pieces of it sold on ebay. That is my plan.

Bruce, I replaced all the seat bottoms in both my Tique and '90 with exterior ply coated in epoxy resin. I fully expect them to outlast the vinyl!

What is the best material to replace the original plywood seat bottoms. Treated plywood? Exterior plywwod coated with eposy resin? Other?
