My wife found some of the old style candy cigs for a 50's theme dance recently. I used to have an 8 track to cassete adapter in my old 76 f-150

Yea I remember candy that came 2 for a penny, 5 cent bag of chips or chocolate bar. A Coke machine that would give a bottle of soda for a dime. Gas @ $.27 a gal, cigarette pack for $.25, Woodstock, draft cards and burning them.
The womens "go braless" revolution. The Vietnam War on TV every night. I was in second grade for the JFK assasignation. Man landing on the moon. Ah, the good old days |

Great with Soda! There is a great candy store on Route 1 in Kittery ME. called Yummies. They sell just about any kind of candy you can think of. Does anyone remember the candy cigarettes? As I recall there were two kinds - the hard stick of sugar with a red tip and the gum wrapped in paper. The gum one had powdered sugar or corn starch under the wrapper so if you blew air through the wrapper and it looked like a puff of smoke. Kyle |

Steve how about using a folded up book of matches wedged under the 8 track cartridge so it would only play one track at a time. |

81, perhaps the kids might recognize Smokey and the Bandit, better than Flying Nun.
A couple of other favorites I thought of today that are gone: - Ford Ranchero - Chevy El Camino BKH |

Now I have to chime in, how about Rocky Point Clam Chowder at the shore dinner hall. And speaking of some childhood amusment parks don't forget Cresent Park and Jolly Charlies. Also saw an add on tv the other night with Sally Fields in it and I mentioned she looked pretty good for her age, no one in the house new who she was so I said "Remeber she was on "The Flying Nun".... Crickets and blank stares from all. I am now old as crap. |

Walkman is almost current. How about a transitor radio (AM only) with one earplug, or the one you had to build like a science project.

I remember my Dad’s old console television. It was only 19”, but it was in a large wood cabinet. Of course that was before cable – good old VHF and UHF stations picked up with the previously mentioned rabbit ears.
I also remember going to Radio Shack with my Dad to buy new tubes for the TV. My first LP was Paul Stanley’s (KISS) solo album. My first CD was Boston’s first (self titled) album. Speaking of music… Remember Sony’s Walkman for playing cassette tapes and then later the Discman for CDs? When I think of those old players it amazes me I’m able to get 1800 songs on my iPod. (And it is still only half full!) Do any of the New England CCFans remember Rocky Point amusement park? There is a great movie on PBS called 'You must be this tall... The Story of Rocky Point'. (It is also available on DVD.) Check out this site for pictures of Rocky Point Park (The site plays an old Rocky Point radio ad so make sure the volume is turned down...) I love the pictures from the 70's! Lots of great memories... keep them coming. Kyle |
