On our 68, the rudder box did not like the 1/4" I think the shaft is 1/4 and the rudder is 3/16.

On a 66, it should be 1/4". Measure the gap between the shaft and the ID of the gland to be sure or take a 1/4" and 3/16 drill bit and see which one fits.

Hi guys,
What size shaft packing do I need for the drive shaft and rudder stuffing boxes on my 66 mustang? Is it 1/4" or 3/16"? The old packing Is so broken down I can't tell what size it used to be. As always thanks for the help! Pat |
