Pretty standard operating procedure for a carbed engine, no?

I tried to search this topic before posting, but the search function hasn't worked for me for the last 2 days.
I have a '93 Sport with the Pro-Boss. Whenever I try to start the boat for the first time, I always have to pump the throttle 2 times before it will fire up. Never seem to have any issues once it has warmed up. What typically causes this? What are the easy fixes to try to solve it? I recently tuned everything up and was hoping that it would help this, but no luck. I changed spark plugs and wires, fuel/water separator, and set the timing to 18 BTDC at idle (done with the knock sensor unhooked). Best I can tell, the timing is pretty darn close to 18 BTDC. Not sure if the carb was ever rebuilt. |
