I had trouble three summers ago. I did not change the gas filter in the " normal" fall PM. When my darlings were around we would put 50 to 75 hours on the boat in a summer and I would change the fuel filter every fall. When they got lives of their own, the use of the boat dropped dramatically. Consequently, I skipped the maintenance.WRONG !! I left the fuel filter in and did not drain the cannister. Over he winter the cannister rusted. In the spring we did the trailer start up an went on vacation. Got to the lake and the boat would start and die. Long story short, the rust had plugged the screen in the Carb. I replaced the OEM FRAM with a SUMMIT look alike with chrome. The SUMMIT replacememt is JUNK and I will go back to the original Fram in the upcomming weeks.

See what SkiDIM or Whitelake marine will sell it to you for. Remember to use the CCF 10% discount
I don't see any need to change it every season. I know when I got my boat with about 800 hrs on it. it had never been changed before I changed it. Damn that thing was hard to get off! |

It doent need to be a Fram I was just using that as an example. The PCM dealers here want 63.33 canadain. When I want to change it every season, thats getting a little hard on the wallet just for a small fillter. I also work at a automotive shop, so if I can get one from NAPA or Bumper To Bumper I can get it at my shop cost. Unfornitly if thats the only way I can go then I guess I'll just have to suck it up.

I agree with Randy. Stick with the PCM filter... Fram is garbage. SkiDIM has good prices on the replacement filters.

you need to order the PCM filter. Why on earth would you want to use a Fram? If you have a Fram oil filter I would look into replacing that with something else as well. The Fram oil filtes are crap. Do a google search on oil filters and you will see what I'm talking about. There are people out there that have taken these things apart and the Frams are just not built well. I wouldn't put a Fram filter on my moped!
