Best way to check stringers for rot? |

In addition to checking the engine bolts look for any laminations in the glass around the stringer. Wet wood will swell and can cause the glass to pull away from the stringers.

take a wrench and see if the engine mount [leg bolts ] are tight.usually,this area will rot first.

Im looking at purchasing an early 60s correct Craft. The boat appears to be very solid,but im a little concerned about the stingers. Is there any good way to check them for dry rot?
The owner has already "poked" them with a screwdriver and reports them as being solid. Is that enough to insure they are ok? |
