First big day out on Saturday. I ran out one full tank. The Autolite 124s seem great.
I opened it up on a short smooth stretch and clocked 47.3 mph on the car GPS. I had been wanting to check the speed on GPS. |

Before the new impeller, it held right at 140 on the guage. With the new impeller, it shows just a hair under 140. It is a very hard ceiling. It has always held there ever since I put in that thermostat (about 7 years ago).
Soon, I will remove the thermostat, inspect, and give it the stove top and thermometer test. |

What do you consider to be "really low"? If its below 143, then Id suspect your 'stat may be bad (stuck open). Both of my PCM's with the same cooling system run right around 160 with the 143 'stat. |

The SKIDIM description for those plugs quotes `71-`74 for 302/351.
She is sounding good. I did my spring wax job and got it ready for a family reunion this coming Saturday. Now, I am back to thinking about the 143 vs 160 thermostat again. It is really low temp with the new impeller and the 143 thermostat. I am considering the 160 again. |

Luch, the Ford heads (at least the ones on the 302) went from the 18mm to 14mm sometime in the early to mid 70's. My '71 Skiers both have the 18mm, the '78 Tique has the 14mm.

I thought stock heads used 14mm plugs, at least that's what's on mine.

I guess I can frame the cardboard package!
I put in the new RW impeller and the plugs yesterday afternoon, cranked her up in the driveway and she sounded sweet. |

Wow,I guess that packaging cost quite a bit.
Now you can go to your favorite parts outfit in town next time and pay a lot less and avoid the shipping too. I guess it's PCM and not skidim puttin' the screws to ya' since it's their expensive packaging. Keno |

No doubt, I want to get the right thing first time...I do wonder how much you pay extra for the "marine" packaging.

The 45's are slightly hotter than the 124's and they have the power tip design. The 124's don't. I think 45's are just fine. I'm guessing that skidim is selling AP-45 platinum plugs in that PCM packaging judging by the price. That's just my wild guess Keno |

Getting plugs with the correct heat range is important- as far as I could deduce the Autolite 45's were the ticket. Id be interested to find out which plugs actually come in the fancy PCM packaging. They do appear to be Autolites, but let us know when they show up!

FYI, Ive been running Autolite 45's (18mm) on my '71 302 with good luck. Available at Walmart for just over a buck a piece.
