I got the same reco from Skidim when I called for a replacement fram filter and they told me 2months minimum. Install was easy and probably took 30min total. I just drilled two new holes in the factory mounting plate for the new unit.

The fram(I think) that was on my boat was a total loss. I switched to a racor with a bottom drain because I could replace the element quickly at west marine. It's been great so far.
2 things, I started with a clean system so I can't really comment on performance. The other is I had to drill a new hole to install it. Screw holes never line up. |

From reading past posts it sounds like a lot of people are fans of replacing the "pain in the a$$" black assembly canister that's on most of the 2001 generation nautiques with an easier to use assembly/seperator where the filter screws in much like an oil filter. Sounds like lower replacement costs for filters and easier changing.
Anyway...the guys over at SKIDIM recommended this one to me: Filter Assembly Has anyone used this specific one? Do you recommend it? Any problems with install, performance, etc??? Thanks in Advance, Johnny |
