Thanks to everyone for the input. The other day I got to working on it and ended up making a bracket and putting nuts on the bolts.

If the glass is in decent shape inside by the gas tank some people have created metal plates with nuts welded on the back and then bolt the brackets through the hull to the metal plates in the back. If the wood is completely rotted then I wouldn't recommend that and try to inject the resin like mentioned above.

The correct fix is like Joe said and replace the pieces entirely. Here is a shot where I replaced mine when rebuilding my stringers. You can see where Joe is talking about with the outside boards go below the floor. Good luck!

Seperate from the stringers, but a set of small stand alone pieces fiberglassed to the hull, must remove part of the floor and some foam to get to the ones on the outside for replacement. The paint is over the gelcote, you can wetsand it all off and have a single color boat..

I appreciate the info. Is the paint over the gelcoat? Also is the wood behind the gas tank one piece, seperate from the stringers?

Hello Mark,
Welcome to the site. I have an 83 SN.

About your questions.
1. The stripes on the side are painted. If they are not too scuffed up you can buff them out. Most likely the paint is to thin and old to get the look you want. You can either repaint or have vinyl reproductions made. I suggest paint.
2. A quick fix would be to inject some fiberglass resin into the hole. Put some tape over the hole before you insert the syringe to keep it from flowing out. Someday you will want to replace the wood behind the gas tank.
3. Some water in the bilge is normal. I would start with the shaft where it comes thru the hull. There should be a small drip. As long as your bilge pump is working you have nothing to worry about.

I just bought a 1982 Ski Nautique 2001 that is pretty good condition but I have a few questions for you salty vets.
1) Are the Stripes on the sides decals or paint and what's the best way to either replace them or bring them back to life?

2)I took the teak platform off to refinish it and noticed the outside brackets were loose so I got to looking at it and found that the wood that the screws screw into is rotted. I tried longer screws but no luck. Is this part of the stringers or a seperate piece of wood in the back and what is the best way to repair it. There are no soft spots on the floor and the stringers by the engine are good.

3) When we took it out for the test run I opened up the engine compartment and saw some water under the engine. It wasn't a whole lot but I didn't know if this was normal or if not what to do to fix it.

I would appreciate any tips/advice you guys could provide.
Also I will try to post some pics in a few days.
Thanks
