The guy told me he had the packing redone at the beginning of the season. Also told me that if it wasn't changed once a year, it could catch fire. I will definitely get some pictures put on. My son and I are going to re-do the floor and interior this fall. Will also need to work on the shifter...I think it's giving me problems. It's difficult to accelerate slowly. Then it wants to jump up to 20 to 25 mph. Then I have to throttle down and then give it gas again.

Pete, so I'm guessing there is no such things as catastrophic packing failure :)

Tim, welcome to the site!

Tim welcome to the site. Make sure you get some pictures and a short story about your boat/yourself off to Keith our administrator/owner so he can put it in the diaries section.

keep asking the questions and we'll answer them truthfully. The PO of you boat may have know the packings were bad and just told you the story. Ether that or he screwed up the packing job!!!

I'm guessing the packing for the shaft and rudder. If that's yearly replacement item I'm about three years too late.

Look in the reference section, if no luck there should be a couple dozen guys chiming in her shortly to help you.

Ok. bought an 86 Correct craft Martinique. The previouse owner told me about the packing and the oil filter needing to be changed once a year. Wondering if there was a maintenance log I can get, that tells what needs to be done regularly.
