I just refinished mine last week. Mine was not painted, but had enough dried on teak oil to resemble clear paint. Power washing removed most of the dried oil. I then used my air file with 80 grit followed by 150 grit to remove remaining oil that power washing would not remove. Finnally, before re-oiling, I scrubbed the wood with 40% clorox water solution and let it sit for an hour so before rinsing. Platform looks almost new now.

Use a wood stripper from home depot or Lowes. Sand it afterward with a palm sander. Then use the Starbrite brightener and teak oil. I have tried other products, but like the starbrite product line the best. If it doesn't turn out (removing the paint from the wood grain) keep an eye on e-bay. There's been a used teak platform up for auction there for several weeks. Good luck!

I just bought a another boat and someone had painted the teak platforn black. I don't understand why but they did. The paint is flaking off and I want to strip it and put some oil on it and/or seal it(whatever it needs). My concern is will paint stripper harm my teak? after I strip it how should I treat it? Any advice would be welcomed.
