Pete,I have a catalog too. Around here they are hard to come by. McMaster's is truely amazing with the collection of stuff they carry. My tired old eyes don't always have cheaters available. My computer skills bearly get me through here as you have witnessed. I picture going there must be like hardware store heaven and I'll bet if I walked in for $4.80 worth of #2 S.S screws I'd spend another $100 on stuff that caught my eye. Kinda like going to Cabellos for fishing line and leaving with complete hunting and camping gear.

Mcmaster 15 minute drive = PRICELESS

Kevin,
I've been using Mcmaster for over 35 years so actually using the catalog comes easier!! I know where everything is grouped and can go right to the section the part needed is. Plus, not being brought up through the computer era, the online took some getting used to. However, once you've mastered the onlines search feature it sure is nice! I'll still tyically build a order by writing down part numbers out of the catalog and then place the order online.

Mcmasters main warehouse is 15 min. from me at work. Real nice too!

I think one of the warehouses is just north of me, any time I order it come the next day. I like that!

Guys, I'll say this once more. If it's not a CC OEM part, don't go there!!

Agreed. I searched long and hard for a comparable replacement on one of my trailers... $60 is a fair price for all the pieces. Every one in a while the dealer is the place to go! Theyre definitely galvanized.

This looks like the right size.

*Forged construction results in strong, durable snaps that are ideal for use in demanding applications. Not for lifting.
*Stainless steel snaps offer increased corrosion resistance.

Careful with stainless on stainless. It will gall. Best thing is stainless on brass.

I am also looking for a turnbuckle for my '76. I think I found a good, heavy duty one at Miller Ace Hardware in Elk Grove Village, IL. This is an "industrial" ACE hardware. Have not been able to find a suitable turnbuckle anywhere else. I think it was priced around $20. They had some slightly smaller ones which would do the job as well for around $12. Give them a try.
