Yes, I would be interested in the one from the 2000 sport. Since I am the one that started this post, I guess I should respond once in awhile. I have a 1999 Ski Nautique with the extended pylon. I never use the extension and would like a standard height pylon. What are you asking for the pylon and what kind of shape is it in. Let me know, and thanks again

Some where during the late nintey's I even shortend the pylon a couple of inches for the Ski Nautique. More than likely the year that the machined area below the spool was added to address the newer trick releases. Man! seems like ages ago!

FYI If some one is looking for a pylon I have the one out of My 92 as it now has a straight current pylon. And I have one out of a 2000 sport!

Again, that clarifies what Gary was saying that if the hand finish wasn't done well the pylon got rejected after the annodizing. The gray pylons are what I'm talking about 1993-1998.

Was not sure when we went to the first teflon pylons. If one looks at some early coated pylons some were more Gray then black. Around about the time we went to the straight Pylons we also got better with the coating process. I remember seeing many a pylon getting rejected because of color or other cosmetic problems. After the CNC machine started being utilized many of these problems went away. If memeory serves me we were running a Mazak CNC turning center.

The CNC makes sense, when you run your fingernail down an "old" pylon it doesn't make a noise. The newer ones have tiny ridges and make a "ZZZZZZZZZZZZ" sound.

The 1993 brochure says the pylons are teflon coated.

Much like chrome Kevin, anodizing reflects the base. If the aluminum is polished before anodizing,it will be glossier. And since Jody says they changed to cnc machining this is what must have made a difference.Anodizing is basically a controlled corrosion with a dye added to make the color, no dye and it's called clear anodizing. I also understand that it's hard to keep colors consistant from job to job.

It had to do with the anodizing the earlier Pylons were anodized in a standard type process when we went to the sraight pylons we incorperated a teflon type anodization. Also around that time we went from hand turning on a lathe to A CNC machine, this made for a more refined finish before they went off to the coating company.

What can you tell us about the finishes between the two? The earlier bent black pylons are somewhat "dull" in while the true straight pylons are a much deeper and glossier black.

I'm fairly certain that the true straight pylon started in 1999. Knowing Correct Craft though, there could be a mix of 1998s with bent and straight standard pylons. The tall ones were all definitely straight, and available in 1998.

WTB: Standard height pylon(around 53 in) for a 1999 Ski Nautique. My boat has an extended pylon, which we do not use. The pylon should be straight(no bends) and a black finish.   Thanks
