John M,
Don't know if you've seen it yet, but there is a 1974 Waukesha Engine manual posted in the reference section of this site. Regards, BKH |

Thanks! A trip to to local Auto Parts store here, yielded the correct Mallory Marine parts for several minutes seaching to match the parts. Thanks to everyone for their help so far. I agree that electronic ignition is the way to go long term.

If you have the cash replacing the complete dist would make a noticable improvement in idle and performance. A mallory YLU-554-CV runs about $275 at summitt. Otherwise you should at least covert to electronic verses points once you figure out the brand and model. Try the service manuals in the reference section of this site for your year boat.

Of Course as Murphys Law dictates....no tag on the distributor. At least this is a start.
Thanks, John |

John,
The main info you need is contained on the ID tag on the distributor. There were at least three different mfgrs of the dist'rs used on the Ford engines; Mallory, Prestolite, and Autolite, that I know of. If you have that number, DIM (see add at top of page) or NAPA among others, can get you the ignition tune-up parts you need with no problem. Good luck. Reid |

I just got my hands on 1974 w/ 351 Waukesha motor badly in need of a tune-up....I know what plugs it uses, but where the heck do I get my hands on points, rotor, and cap for this old bird?
