if its a pipe thread, you need to heat it red, and then let it cool completely, this will shrink the plug.
If that doesnt work step drill up and try to knock it with a chisel sideway's. drill to as thin as possible to relieve the pressure on the threads |

I had a problem with one exhaust drain this year (steel plug + overtightened...yeah, i know, i know...). It took a lot of heat and F bombs to get it out. I also had to cut a slot and make a "key" out of 1/4 steel plate since the top of the plug exploded off when I put a 1/2" drive ratchet on it. don't be like me. get brass plugs and don't overtighten. as for your problem...more heat and a bigger wrench will get it.

As far as I can tell, I'm not quite sure...

I am trying to remove a drain plug from an engine and it won't budge. It has a 1/4" square head. I've tried PB Blaster, heat, a pipe wrench, vise grips. The head seemed to be falling apart, but now seems square again as crazy as that sounds. I need some suggestions for removing this thing. There appears to be anti freeze in the engine, but I would like it drained before winter.
