They're pretty scary. In Oklahoma and Texas, we'll drink cold beers and watch them go by they are so common. At least we don't have to worry about mud slides.

We don't often get tornadoes in CA. I can only recall two in my lifetime.
We'd left the house to visit family. Imagine my surprise, thirty miles down the road, when all of the radio stations came on the emergency broadcast system with a tornado warning in Discovery Bay, our town. I'm told they were on all the TV stations as well. When we got home, there were two warning messages on our home phone from the national weather service. I guess they took it pretty seriously. Apparently, a tornado never materialized, or at least not in a populated area. The neighbors said it was a pretty big funnel cloud, and marble sized hail. Looking forward to seeing the pictures tomorrow. No matter how old you get, there's always something around the corner you haven't seen before. BKH |
