Piece of cake Joel. You can knock it out in no time. I really wish we did not paint it. I can build better than I paint. Oh well, it will be fine. BKH

Thanks guys.
Morfoot, I not only considered staining, or just varnishing, I lobbied for it. Every male who saw the playhouse said leave it natural wood. Alas, I was outvoted 2-1 by the females of the household. It is now completely primed and half painted. BKH |

Won't be the last time, I envision many tea-parties, get togethers, hide-&-seek games, board game nights... in that little house. |

Brian, That looks too good to paint it. Have you considered staining it?

Thanks all. It's fun to do projects for the little one. She's still young enough that she thinks everything you do it great.

Very nicely done Brian! I agree w/ the prioritizing. 100 years from now when you and the boat are just distant memories a great-great grandchild will still be playing tea party & getting her beauty sleep in it.

Rise and Run Had to be steep to accommodate dimensions of the room. I would have preferred a ladder, but our daughter is only three, and my wife was concerned about her climbing down a ladder in the middle of the night.
Good eye on the Balusters. There are 4 which have a gap of greater than 4". I had set them so there was one baluster per step. The other 24 ballisters are under 4" with most set at 2.5. I have another piece of wood set aside, and hadn't quite decided whether to fill in those gaps. That stariway railing will be set very close to a wall. BKH BKH |

Brian, that is so Cool! Aspen will be loving life and when she hits her teenage years all you will need to do is add bars to the door and windows, LOL.
Great Job! PS, great point about the 4" sphere by Pete, can't tell from the pick but it is an important safety code worth following. |

Absolutely right, my little girl is heading that way next fall. Everything falls in place you just have to be patient. Great job Brian, that is much more rewarding than playing with an old boat. Some don't understand that but you know. |

Brian,
Please understand I'm not criticizing here because you work sure looks great and this is simply a observation and caution. Check the distance between balusters. The ones at the stairs look pretty wide looking at the pictures. If so, you may want to consider adding extra balusters to prevent a small head from getting stuck between them. The UBC states you shouldn't be able to pass a 4" dia. ball through any part of the railing. I'd hate to see something bad happen to a young one. |

Figured that must be the case, but all the elements look so tightly integrated it was hard to imagine it coming apart. Nice work!!

I didn't understand Mike's question. I thought he was asking how I was going to get inside the the playhouse.
The bed comes apart into six pieces. 4 walls, the bed platform, and the stairway. I'll take a picture when I dissasemble. Remove 27 screws to take it apart. Probably could have got away with half as many fasteners, but I alway seem to overbuild. BKH |
