Amazing how fast time goes. I'll be 38 this year. 20 year high scholl reunion, kids growing up, only one grandparent left, my parents are retired. Wow! What happened...LOL! I know I'm still pretty young, but it does seem like just yesterday my brother and I were building dirt ramps to jump our bikes off, chasing girls and getting into mischief.
I love the pictures of brothers having fun together. Great stuff! |

Very cool, double footin with your brother John. 125 years cumulative age between just two of you...pretty impressive.
This is the best I could do with my brother a couple summers ago. 
My brother (59) never got into footin when we were younger, and I don't think he is going to start now. As he said last time we were out together and I was working on my back start: "I know how old I am" |

Well I talked to my brother tonite. He has been lurking of course and caught me in math mistake. I am not sure I would admit to this but he had to remind me that he is 8 years older so that mkes him 67 not 64. Math was never my strong suit.
But he sure can still foot.... 
I love doing double runs...but its still the best with my brother...hmmm...maybe I can get Eddie to teach him to go backerds. john |

Hey, Behl and you can send them home too....try living right next to your outlaws like i do, they knew me before i married they're daughter, (notice that md) luckily, Ive calmed down a bit and gave them grandchildren, I'll send them over and they come right back after 10 minutes...too much of a good thing I guess
BK, you glance the Obit's nowadays? with your glasses on, I often wondered why the old folk glanced them daily but now i find myself looking at them. I think your the one that said, you dont start to figure it out at 35, I think your right, i dont think we ever figure it out |

Great post Brian; it's one of the reasons why I have an older boat. It helps me remember the time when I grew up and the investment my family and friends, particularly my parents, brother and sister made with me.
Our kids are now grown (mostly) and they love to get out on the water with me still. They just bought a wetsuit, so the skiing season has begun! There is, in my mind, few things that rival time on the water with your kids. Chuck |

I did not get married til I was 30. The 4 boys were born every two years apart.(that makes me 72 in July) The youngest is 34 and got married a year ago. With the 8 grand kids being no more than 15 miles away we get to see then almost weekly; however, as they get more into their own activities that becomes more difficult. When they come over one plays hard and CAN SEND THEM HOME.
One son has 4 under the age of 4 (3 + 1). The nanny brought them over today for some play time and they were asking when PaPa is going to get the boat out. They want to ride. That is some of the fun of being a grandparent

I've been able to meet with alot of you and your family's. I can see very clearly family comes first with all of you. And to talk with the well mannered kids shows how they learned from the love at home. Yes, time is short so always make the best of it. Or it will pass you by. I tell my daughter life is like a book, you can write anything you want. But you can never change the page you wrote yesterday. Dave |

Actually it gets way better. When they're real young you see changes almost daily but as they get older you start seeing refinements and enjoy everything they accomplish. Take the time to go to as many games, dance recitals, school plays etc. as you can as they do grow up fast. I consider myself fortunate that my kids didn't show up until I found my second wife as I know have more time to spend with them. I wasn't into kids nor ready for them in my younger years. Being able to teach them things, talk about things and cheer them on is truely a blast. |

Everything you guys are saying is true. My daughter left for college three years ago, not even coming home this summer, has an intership in DC. My son, now 16, driving, friends, school, girl friend, so he isnt around much. It all came and went very quickly. I miss playing with the kids, going out and throwing a ball every night after dinner, playing with hot wheels on the floor for hours, coming to eat at my daughters little tykes kitchen, boating and skiing, scouting,and especially the road trips when they were young. We took a zillion of them, several to NC, two to FL, couple to SC, one to Houston, a million to Grammies in WV among others. I find myself getting quite nostolgic these days as my kids' independence grows. I am lucky in one respect tho, I always knew this was coming so, for all those years, I put kids and family first, not job or hobbies or my friends, so I am fortunate to have a million great memories. It seems like just yesterday...

Every day I come home from work and I can "tell" that Madison is already growing up too fast. Her thoughts, her English, etc. just get more complex and grown up every day. Kindergarten next year. Time REALLY flies, and I've heard from just about everyone that it only gets worse.

That's true Brian... I never understood the saying "life is short"when my parents used to say it... Boy they couldn't have been more right.. I lost a business partner last Friday. 58 years young. Unreal how life really is..

Today would have been my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Although Mom has been gone since 97 and Dad since 04, it still seems like a big deal.
Today, my "baby" brother will also get married. I don't know how he got to be 34 so quickly. It feels like just yesterday I was leading him by the hand, trick or treating in his Luke Skywalker costume. I suppose it will feel like only tomorrow when my own daughter graduates college, get married, forges out on her own. A good day to reflect upon family I think. We're just not here long enough to do all we would like to do. BKH |
