John,
Did you find the wiring diagram? Start with making sure all the gauges are getting power. Then remove the sender wires and check for resistence to ground. I ended up having to put new terminals (sta-cons) on most of the behind dash wiring. Lots of corrosion due to the poor quality from the factory. The .250 quick connects were the worst. Most were actually broken because the females had become brittle. |

Thanks for the response, I do have a volt meter and any help would be appreciated. I live in Villa Park right at about route 38 and route 83,I am gonna clean it up a little, seems to be mostly original and in pretty good shape , then take it up to its new home on Fisher Lake in Three Rivers Michigan. I will try to post a pic. Thanks John

John,
You'll need to start by checking several things with a volt meter. Do you have one? A wiring diagram may come in handy too. There is one in the reference section. The one appropriate for your boat would be in the older PCM manual. Sounds like you do have voltage to the hour meter. It's working and yes, if you turn the key on and off it will register. get back to us and we can walk you through some testing. Welcome to CCfan. Where are you in Chicagoland? If you'd like to keep it private, you can email me via my profile. Maybe I could take a look and lend a hand. We also have a group of CCfan'rs that meets for a few beers every couple of months. Keep your eye on the "Chicago beers" thread in the off topic section. |

Just picked up a 77 Ski Tique and while going over everything, found that the fuel and temp gauges are not working, also the hour meter which does not look original ,maybe it is do not know ? anyway it has hours, tenths of hours, and hundreths . The problem with that is when you turn key on, hundreth dial jumps up a number, so as yo turn key on and off number jumps up each time. Tach works fine as well as oil ,and amps, looked underneath and it looks like someone might have messed with wires at one time,I wonder if hour meter jumping and the two gauges not working are some kind of short or something? Can anyone help?
