Chris,
Depending on what Depco does, you may need a new sheave (pulley) too. When they put a new shaft in, maybe they will go to the press fit and supply the new sheave too. If not, I suggest using a Loctite retaining compound with the new old style. It actually provides a better strength than shrink or press fits. |

For reference sake, I've been researching my RAW water pump on the Ski Tique (302) and found some interesting info I thought I'd share. I was having trouble because the pulley was wobbling on the shaft. I tried tightening the set screw and had no luck. When I pulled the pulley off the shaft this is what I found.
They Key on the shaft was toast and the pulley was worn out on the inside diameter. After talking with Woody, he said they discontinued this pump because of the key issue and I would probably have to buy a new one. They changed to a pressed on pulley after the keyed pulley was discontinued. I didn't ask when they discontinued it but mine is a 78....so sometime after then. I sent the whole thing to Depco pumps and they said they'd take a look at it. |
