If he had it, I would tell him too. Like I said mostly dirt poor.
My guess is most of the vibration is coming from the bent prop. Telling him to get that fixed first and see. He's been driving around with the front fin bent for over a year with not much vibration. Might help him pull out the rudder to check it and see if the shaft is cracked on it, maybe that could get a little straightened. |

You can get fins and rudders straightened at a good prop shop.
These guys do all that stuff, they are in WI. Propulsion Inc. What about insurance? |

The tracking fins are glued on as well as the screws. We just used a very big crescent wrench on the fin and moved it side to side till it came loose. They don't come off easily. I suppose a pipe wrench would work as well.
Can't help you with the other questions. Guys have straightened fins, but I'm not sure what method they use. BKH |

So a buddy on the lake with a '92 Sport ( could just be an open bow SN )hit something big in the lake the other night.
Unfortunately he is kinda a magnet for bad things. I just got my first look of the damage out of the water tonight. The front fin was bent by his ex last year, and he has just been dealing with it. Well the other night he messed up the other two fins and one blade on the prop and I'm sure he bent the rudder too. I'm sure most of the vibration is coming from the prop. He really is mostly flat broke. ( that may be understated ) First, he wants to get someone to straighten the fins. He took the screws out of the bottom but they would not come out. What holds these suckers in? Is it worth trying to get then straightened? Beside the bottom screws what holds them in? ( how to get them out? ) Second, I'm sure most of the vibration is coming from the prop. We have a prop guy that can probably help him out there. Third, the bent rudder. I didn't get a look at the rudder box, but the photo shows its bent (rudder shaft) for sure. But thats probably something he can deal with for the summer. All I can say is OUCH! Please Help. All you guys are great here! |
