Chris you're correct on this one but I'm sure Steve was making the point that they aren't wood or sheet metal screws. Steve, It can get confusing! What Chris didn't work you over on and didn't mention is you can also call some threaded fasteners "cap" screws!! |

all that you need to do is get some eagle one never dull and polish them on the boat, if you remove them, I bet your going to using a buffing wheel on a grinder stand and buff all of the chrome off like others have done not what you want to be doing unless your rechroming them. |

technically they are machine screws, bolts have hex heads or they are carrage style bolts. |

I guess I will have to slide myself up in there and take down the foam that is straped to the underside of bow I felt around already, but guess I wasn't far enough up there

And if they have never been changed, there is a good chance that they are "Robertson Head machine screws" (small square)

They are bolts and nuts - not screws............ al least they are on my 78 Ski Tique.......... Get up under there.... not much space but you can get 'em.......

Do they have nuts on the back side? I ran into this problem with my Supra. I would think most of the manufacturers used nuts and bolts if mine did.

1975 Mustang - trying to get my cleats removed on each corner to polish them up - one of the last things I have been wanting to do to really make it all shine - problem is the screws turn free both right and left? Best thought I have is there is some kind of "lag shield" in there that the screws are in tight, but has broke loose with the reverse splines and is just spinning - I have tried pulling up under pressure to get the screws to bite backing out and nothing seems to work - DOES anyone have any experience with this or can tell me what the heck is holding these screws in - all cleats are good and tight and all 16ea screws just turn
