Neutral Safety Switch on Morse MV-2

Okay, I will go ahead and claim the bonehead award for this one. The unit that I have has a single pull out nob for the neutral safety switch which disengages the tranny cable from the throttle. I would assume this is the common unit.   I was under the impression, after reviewing the manual for the morse control unit in the reference section that I was missing a section of parts on the back side of that unit. However, I was able to get put back together just fine.

To answer your question, I am rebuilding my boat after my floor project. I am going to get my pictures together and start a new thread so people can see what I have done.

The NSS interrupts power to the start relay (solenoid). Why don't you take a look in the reference section under manuals and print out the wiring diagram. I think you may get a better idea of what's going on.

Carb? No, has nothing to do with the NSS. The only thing that goes to it electrical is for the choke heater element.

BTW, what are you trying to do? What's the problem?

I think I may understand now, should this be connected to the engine harness or carb? If one end, is on the transmission where does the other end hook up, and how does it engage? I have an 83 SN by the way.

So it's an electric switch? Not mechanically engaged? Because there is neither mechanical parts or wires running to my throttle.

Is anybody's Morse MV-2 running without a neutral safety switch? My mount housing has the neutral switch but back behind this housing it seems to be missing some parts. It looks like this MV-3 that's out there comes either with or without a safety switch. Am I the only one that see's the hazard in starting your boat in gear? Anybody running theirs like this?

Also should this have come stock with a pull up lever to engage the throttle cable?
