I'm not sure what the manufacturers are installing with the ZR6s but you could keep your driveline for sure.
Keep in mind those ZR6 use closed cooling since they have aluminiun heads. I'd replace with a Excalibur 343. |

This question may seem a little left field but I figure that there is more combined knowledge here than anywhere.
I'm replacing the long block in the SAN due to a winterization issue from the PO. I'm considering two opions: Boring option: Replace the block & heads with direct replacement 330HP vortec marine long motor. Easiest option. Evehything goes back to stock. Interesting option: I can get a VERY good deal on a brand new LS2 6.0 litre motor, complete with loom & computer. And I can get it for nearly 1/2 the price of the direct marine replacement to my current excallibur. Questions: 1. Is the LS2 the same base as the ZR6.? 2. The vortec exhaust manifolds are different, but will the ZR6's fit.? 3. Will it bolt up to the bellhousing.? 4. Will I be able to make the gauges work.? 5. Will I be able to make PP work.? 6. Driveline ratios will be different. Will this mater? The main reason I am even considering this is the price difference for the extra motor I can get. If I could get the extra parts I need & it will bolt up & in, it might be worth considering.? If I need to change G'box / v Drive, then I won't consider it. |
