Man, those are all super idea's!! I'm eager to come and learn!

Eric,
forget that last minute thing of yours and register, so we can have a few cold ones after class!!
- Gun control means: using BOTH hands!
- Money doesn't make one happy, but when it rains cats and dogs, it's still better to cry in a Porsche than on a bicycle...

I think this is a super idea and would definitely attend. I have owned my boat for 10 years and never had my stuff aligned. Everyone tells me it is ok, but sure would be nice to double check after a class.

Moj - Haul the Cuda up to the reunion (now that you have a spiffy new trailer) and we'll have a gel restoration clinic where everyone gets 2 SQ FT to work on. Wet sand, compound, polish, glaze, wax.

Then, with the areas left we have a contest for the kids to see who can get their area the shiniest. Bring some enormous candy bars (or marshmallows) as prizes. Cheapest labor ever.

You won't be done before the reunion, but you'll be done shortly after, hahaha.

Great idea Steve.. We could do one during the boat show as well as Sat morning before the parade....

Tune into the GL threads. We'll start something over there and see who can do what...

Again, perfect addition !!!

If the tent remains at the park all weekend long, it could easily host something like that.

This really sounds like a great idea and I'd be willing to do the alignment clinic there. Most know that I've never been one to lay around the sandbar most of the day anyway! I emailed CQ if his boat can wait till then. He doesn't feel he's got muct of a problem anyway but who knows what Lauderdale Lakes Marine did to the boat!

I can run through basic electrical too.

Now, if Eric ever gets off his a** and commits to coming this year, I could even get some help!

Often, a quick live demo is all a guy needs to pick up the ball and run with this stuff.

A video I feel would be very helpfull to a lot of the less experinced members to understand and visualize the procedure and have a better chance of success doing the alignment correctly.

Just have CQ behind the camera and not in front of it, then again HW would be there too ...sooooo... flip a coin to be fair

Video?? I'm camera shy! Besides, most of the shots may be showing of bunch of us slugging down some beers!! Really though, I feel it's not a bad idea even though Eric's pictures are real good.

Any more interest? Kevin, do you have your schedule nailed down yet?

I'd bring my Vdrive , but since you say I have to do it myself I guess I'll stay here and save the $$ for boat gas. I am expecting it to be OK since I've hit nothing and have good solid fiberglass stringers.

This might be a good time for someone to get the video camera out so a video could be added to the alignment thread for those of us who have an easier time seeing it done rather than reading about it.

For some reason I knew that Chris would be creative with wording this posting/announcement! There's no way with the word "shaft" and "peter" involved that he couldn't get it "mixed up"!!!

This idea started when Chris asked me to help him check his alignment (notice I didn't say shaft). He felt he knew how to do it but wanted to be sure. Then he got the idea that maybe others in the area may want to get involved even though he and I feel most will know how and probably have done it. Ether way, it would be a fun gathering.

Several years ago I did a alignment clinic at one of the Blackhawk chapters tech seminars but due to having around 50 people I used a engine/trans then a shaft, stuffing box/log, strut mock up on the bench. This one we'll be able to run through the process on a actual boat.

At this time, I think we're talking doing this on a Saturday at CQ's in Lake Villa.

Interest?

BTW, If anyone brings a V drive, they're crawling in and under the engine!!

Oh wait, I may have worded that wrong.

Just seeing if there any interest in anyone coming by to watch Mr. B get it dialed in on an Excalibur with a PCM reduction transmission, as well as 351 with a Velvet Drive, or bring your own. Plenty of skiing and volleyball to be had as well. If none of you care, I'll just run around with my shaft the way it is!

davidg, bring that Southwind, I've got a special 2-blade that might be the hot ticket for you.
