Thanks ~ Their was a rope to rope Tarzan style set up, But I passed. 10 years ago maybe but I had to use a hoist to work the trans flywheel last time due to rotator cuff injury / irritation. I'm as good as I once was.

Quick Don blow up the tube while no one is looking !!! (Just kidding)

We might squeeze in one more evening before I start up with the shift work for another month.
Got the trick skis with me this time. Now if I can just teach wifey how to drive and not run me over. The inboard / reverse is tricky. Might just have her aim for me and kill it. As long as I can pitch a life vest over and she can recover it a few times with out chopping it up we will be ok. Monday is super low traffic and we are in a secluded spot on the river out of comercial traffic.

Steve,

You have two beautiful little girls. Keep them happy. Some goes for your wife.

Donald, you're a trip. You know my boat won't even turn over if there's a tube in it.

Seriously, I swear my kids love the dang tube and as long as they are 75ft behind me where the engine can drown out their bickering, i'm ok with it.

If nothing else, i have the most awesome tubin boat on the lake.

Micheal,

Oh, did I say it was my boat pulling a tube? I was trying to say it was my friend Steve at Lake Murry that was pulling a tube this weekend. Sorry for the confusion,

Donald

Hope that pic doesnt = CCfan black balling

Maybe I can salvage some dignity with the 1970's stars and stripes Taper Flex trick skis (hope I can still pull a 360 or 2) and maybe few cool slalom pics. Unfortunatly my daughter has never been out on a boat much and the few times we did get out with frinds a tube was all they did. I hope to address the boat = tube issue but first I've gotta get her to want to go out on the boat. I also need to teach Wifey to drive the boat so daddy can play.

Thanks Donald and BHP ~

I'm enjoying it. Anxious to get a few things ironed out and take a ride in a few other inboards to compare. Only recall ever riding in one other inboard and that was about 30 yrs ago.

Brough the GPS along today ~ Put just over 20 miles on the boat. Brought the wife and daughter along, we met up with some friends on an island with a geat little pebble beach and a small rope swing. Black berries were ripe ~ Water Temp was 94 deg... YEP    W A T E R   = 94 Degrees + 92 or so outside. Luckily our beach was shaded.
The family had a great time.

2nd beach later in the day

Mandetory tube shot ~ gotta keep my little girl happy and give the rest somthing to poke fun about.

Me on the rope..

Our little Pebble beach island and Daves new $400 Starcraft (Daves dad has a very nice garage kept Dixie 299).

Ah, I remember the excitement of a new boat. Any excuse to get out on the water. Oh wait, that hasn't changed so much. Enjoy the boat. BKH

Michael,

I live in Denver, NC which is about 20 minutes from the old Dixie Boat Works Plant in Newton/Conover, NC. I have been in Industrial Sales for 25 years and when I first got started I was calling on the Dixie Plant. It has been closed for many years, but they built some cool boats. You still see a few Dixie Boats in this area. Most seem to be I/0 boats.

Thanks for sharing your story.

Oooopps!!! Hope it works out. Not exactly how you'd like to be headded to the water. Those kinds of mornings make me glad I stepped out of the auto repair business.

We rode down to where the big old Chris Craft (Titanic) that my friend helped to recover was said to be sitting. It was gone!!! Someone must have wanted those Ford motors bad.

Big Thanks to my new found friends here at CC fan. With your advice we managed to have a wonderfull first run.

~ It has been near 100 deg every day this week so we made a late evening run. Wife and I left out just before 7pm and made a nice 2 hr 16-mile round trip with a few senic stops along the way. Boat performed great other then me setting the stuffing box too tight and smoking the packing in the first 1/4 mile (250 deg.), otherwise everything went very well. My Transmission even perfomed flawlessly once I got the fluid topped off.

I took it easy and never did get up above 3k ~ Still a littl more to do, replace removable floor section / install motor cover / fix temp gauge / fix fuel gauge. Meanwhle I was working the engine and stuffing box over with the infared thermometer.

I've got to relearn slow speed docking oprations but the swift out going tide made it easy this evening (we get a 5-6' tide change). I've also got a few questions on trailering but I'll make another post in the general section.

Overall a gerat evening and a wonderfull way to renew our boating experience together.

Figured I might ought to stick it here since it is NOT a Correct Craft...

Looking to go for my FIRST ride in my First inboard a Dixie 299 ~ just thought I'd share my excitement. I bought it with a cracked block + a few other issues 5/09. Did I mention I'm excited... I've been turnig wrenches on it every spare minuite since mid May.
