This is a gigantic disaster for the local people and for the US. But, it is way more than that, this a disaster on a global scale... I can't figure out why Europe (a so called partner of the United States) hasn't mobilised every specialised ship, company team we have... They should be on full steam heading towards the area right now (as you already stated bhprop)...
And Ryan, you're right, but they should nationalise ALL assests, worldwide.

In the end, it will be all of us regular Joes paying the bill for this thing, as allways.
- Gun control means: using BOTH hands!
- Money doesn't make one happy, but when it rains cats and dogs, it's still better to cry in a Porsche than on a bicycle...

The smartest thing he could do or have done, would be to nationalize BP's U.S. assests. That would certainly get and keep the ball rolling!

As I can see:

1. Several bad mistakes were made that compounded into the disaster. The chiefs who over-ruled on the boat should go to jail for life. Same with the management.

2. Once the disaster happened the government should have called out every skimmer on the planet. All of the red tape should have been cut.

BP is definantly on the hook for the spill. Our dumb leaders are on the hook for not getting the cleanup quickly started. Instead....all we heard is that it was BP's fault. Shut up dumb president and get something done.

We may be converting to Liquid Propane sooner than you think. They already pay $8 a gallon for gas in the UK.

OK, I'll bite and ride the conspiracy train. How about the administration's and the Democratic Party’s dragging thier feet on this one efforts to shut down the fossil fuel industry so that he's "clean" coal regime will look irresistible? How many democrats fought to prevent any offshore drilling before this even happened. If the administration does not revoke it's moratorium of offshore drilling in the next three to six month's, the rigs will all be overseas and the industry destroyed along with the economy of just about every gulf state. Try bailing that that one out Obama. You guys thought $3.00/gal. was bad, you might want to think about cashing in the kids collage fund.

My Grandfather coached football at LSU and he and my Grandma retired to Dauphine Island, AL. Their house was one of the thousands destroyed by hurricane Katrina. Their neighbor was a third generation shrimper and their family's way of life is now part of some cruel history lesson. What do you do with a million dollars worth of boats and gear that can't be used? The magnitude of this MANMADE Disaster are immeasurable. Those responsible should be hanged if it is proved that they knew this was possible and they turned a blind eye!!!!

It could be the people in the unmarked black helicopters???? Or more likely the decision made my the consultant that is contracted to represent BP's intrest on location (the rig). It was confirmed by congressional testimony he knowingly made a decision in haste, disregarding the reccomendation of others on location. As a result of that decision and of course the well overcoming the hrdrostatic pressures of the drilling fluid, the production casing cement job, the functioning of the sub-sea stac and it's "rams", and lastly the "kick", there was a loss of life and an enviroment destroyed. If the press and the general public knew how easily this all could have been avoided, They would be burning BP to the ground.

My wife's from Pensacola, we met when I was in the navy at air crew school. Pcola is known as "the mother-in law of the navy."
If every 33 ft water pressure is increased by 1 atmosphere (15 psi) at 5000 ft just the water pressure the oil has to overcome is aprox 2272 psi.
I've made a couple of laps around the world and Pensacola's beach's are as nice as ANYWHERE!

you know, I have a pretty good friend who's daughter works over in Washington for the department that oversee's oil rig regulations...the week that happened all the top brass retired..the dept was desolved, there is way more than meets the eye on this one and its a tradegy for your families.
to put in laymens terms, a basic hydraulic system operates on about 2500 psi, the head pressure on this pipe is 30,000 psi, now you know why they are having such a hard time trying to stop this thing, it will take something just short of a miracle to stop it. god bless all of you down in the southern states.....you guy's been delt a couple of bad hands lately

Just a reminder to keep our friends around the Gulf of Mexico in our thoughts and prayers. I live relatively close to the panhandle and am very aware of the problems. Have good friends that lives are changing due to this disaster. I'll step down from the "soap box". Just please remember this area and give them a little prayer.
