What exactly is bad ~ Spun rod bearing? I guess with it pulled down you must go on their word. I'd rebuld what you have as long as the block and crank are salvagable. This way you can specify what you get. When I was pricing marine long blocks last year they ran 2k - 6k. I was skeptical of the 2k units ~ rumor is that some of those remans only replace the parts that are out of spec so you can end up with a hodge podge of multi sized parts. Some parts will have a fresh machined fit and others are just hone and go.

I am looking at a 92 Nautique. Bad piston Rod, 720 hrs, in boat. Boat and motor in good shape and clean. Starboard head OFF. Pistons look good. Thumbnail opinion? Replace or Rebuild? Guess on cost? Sources for engines? Rebuild with HI Perf goodies? Thanks for your input!!
