And mine couldn't find the correct tune up parts last spring for my 312. The idiot just went to the computer and said these parts are used on all Ford V8's for 12 years. They must be the correct ones. This was even after I walked in the place with the distributor # and told him it was marine. I ended up at a Carquest in Eagle River Wis. and he pulled up the Sierra kit!! I had it the next day. Yes, my NAPA has been disappointing too! Maybe I'll have to go to AZ more often!!

Its just the service at AZ takes a few trips to get it all figured out.

Dave,
I'm glad to hear you went with the "top shelf" at AZ! I didn't even think their quality went that high!! But, these days, you never know - does the Timkin box say "made in China" on it!!

Yes, the service is always the issue. When in GL, remind me to tell you the story about me having to go into a AZ to get Valvolene VR1.

Actually other auto supplies aren't what they used to be ether. Steve (62wood) and I were just talking about it this morning concerning his NAPA (mine too!!) The old days are gone when you could walk in and find a knowledgeable person behind the counter and he would open up one of the big old books directly to the part you came in for. Now, its' usually some younger person looking at a computer screen. Steve went in the other day and asked for a ballast resistor and got the "deer in headlights look!!"    Then lucky for him one of the older employees working there overhead the conversation and said "I'll take this one"!!!!

Dave, I sure hope you make it to GL for a couple reasons. First is I need to talk to you regarding your problem with going to AZ. Second is, I sure hope the trailer makes it running on those bearings from them!!!

Gary,
You know I would have said something even if you hadn't mentioned it!

Gary.....You are right! I took the bearings back to AutoZone, and tried to track down the right races. They then realized they had a different part # with the race and bearings as a set. ARGHHHH!!!!!

Also, I will either go up to Adams or to Spring Align for the U-bolt. There is a SA in Palatine too. The guys at Car Quest gave me their card.

Well fellas, I sure hope to be there. Running around trying to find races for the new bearings, and also found a broken U bolt on the trailers springs. Its always something!! Got to make sure its road worthy if my son Tom and I make the road trip. Thinking about hauling her up behind the '68 F250.

You already have it opened up, might as well put in new races. Raises your level of comfort that you didn't do something wrong

Dave,
Put the new races on at the same time. There's no break in on a bearing.

Guys.....If you put new bearings on the trailer, is it necessary to put new races on at the same time if the races are still in good shape.

Didn't know if there is some sort of metal on metal break-in situation kind of like putting a new cam in and having to put new lifters in too.
