Thanks for posting the pics. It was nice to meet you. Sorry we didn't have more time to talk. As you could see, it's a madhouse at 6:30am, trying to get all the boats in and to the start by 7:00. I didn't realize that you had brought the Hydrodyne to the race. I saw you standing on the bow when we footed by. Next race, you should plan on staying after for the BBQ and footing. You missed the Monster girls and their Monster Energy Drink truck. They had the truck bed cooler full, and I mean cases full, of drinks for the party. James Nice job taking first . I figure your shoulders must be tired from carrying the Top Gun team to victory (38 miles in 55 minutes, including a mandatory 5 minute fueling stop). Our team, Burning Soles, took 6th (1:17) out of 13 teams. I was proud of my son, Jarrett, who, along with his buddy Austin, joined up with a team, and finished 12th (1:55), in front of the team Top Gut who bought up the rear with the lightning fast time of 2:11, without a fuel stop. I was proud to see 10 of the 13 teams were pulled with Nautiques. There were Skis, Airs, and (5) Barefoots. N3 Boatworks showed up huge. They donated all kinds of swag, along with the coolest Nautique rocking chair that was raffled off. They also have the most tricked out pulling vehicle I've seen. (Sorry, but I did not take one photo the whole weekend.) Check out the Facebook page at; http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=127603833925146&ref=mf Steve |

Bustin' out of here in two hours for GRap Ohio. I will post pics (and if I can get my son to upload it, a video of the start) next week.
If anyone from here shows up, we'll have the cabin with the 20' Nautique banner on it. Beers and cheesedogs are on me! |

Click on the link I posted above in this thread. It gives most of the information. Brian has closed registration with 14 teams. At this point, it will be 14 boats running down the river, which should be awesome. It is BYOB (boat, booze, and beer), but if a single footer wants to joint a team, there is usually spaces open. Actually, we have a space open because my son tore a muscle in his hip. We may just run with (4) footers, including me with bruised ribs. Cost is $150 per team, which includes T-shirts, BBQ, and prizes from the sponsors, which include Bomber sunglasses, Lake Elmo Sports, and Monster Energy Drinks. For spectators, unless you are in a boat, you will see the start and finish which is near the campground. I think there will be a couple of spectator boats parked along the river, but I can't guarantee it. There will also be plenty of crazy footing after the race. It should be a great event. |

I have heard rummors about this race, but don't know any details.
Rules, cost, byob (bring your own boat)? etc. If you don't compete is there a good place for spectators? Not sure if i can get enough around for sat or not. I live in Hamilton, IN hit me with the details |

I have not given any thought to race in September yet. A lot depends on my work schedule and whether or not I can find a team willing to go.

I am footing with team Top Gun this year. They were in need of a boat and a footer. My barefooting should slow them down a bit for you.. I am not sure what time I am leaving Friday. I have to talk to Heath and Brent to see what time they are coming in on Friday. |

We'll see you there James. Are you bringing a team? When are you leaving Ypsi? We'll talk before Friday. Steve BTW, are you thinking of doing the Lockwood race in Big Rapids? It looks like it's scheduled for Sept 18th. If you are, I would suggest the BFN. That water is always rough, compared to the Buckethead, which is a boat race with footers. |

There will be footing/skiing after the race. You can get pulls behind my boat. I might bring my other boat for viewing the race. We're bringing a team of (5), plus (4) newbee footers, two of which are footing with another team. We're camping at the site Friday and Saturday nights, as are some of the other teams. We actually have one of the two cabins at the park. There is a pre-race get together at a bar/restaurant (to be announced shortly) in Napoleon on Friday night. We'll race Saturday morning, BBQ after the race, and foot all afternoon. If anyone wants the flyer that was sent out, email me. It's not my position to post it on the site. There is also a Facebook page; Buckethead Endurance Barefoot Race. |

Steve, I'll have to check my schedule. If I can make it I will (to watch). Maybe I could get a tow after the race? Steve Edit: what is the start time for the race? I have a reunion in the afternoon. |

So, is anyone from the site heading to the race? Brian told me that there is at least (4) Barefoot Nautiques. As of this morning, there are (14) teams registered. Should be a good race. Hopefully we won't be trade'n gelcoat.

Well, if I was about a thousand miles closer and if my feet could actually tolerate going more than about 100 yards before (what feels like) bursting into flames, I'd be there. Looks like a really great time. Good luck this year and we'll be awaiting an updated photo from your stop at Hooters for next years calendar.

Are any of you heading to the 4th annual Buckethead Barefoot Endurance Race? It's a 38 mile barefoot endurance race on the Maumee river in Grand Rapids, Ohio, August 13th and 14th. 4 or 5 man/women relay teams, barefooting down the Maumee river. Last year there were 11 teams. Our team, Burning Soles, has done two of the first three Bucketheads. Whether your in it to win it, or in it just for the fun and challenge (like us), it's a freakin blast. There are teams that run it like a boat race (Top Gun), and there are teams that have the tunes crankin', and the beers flowin' (Burnin....er..some other teams).
After the race on Saturday morning, there's a cookout, and a lot of fun footin'. Let me know if you need the info. Steve |
