EI or points for new distributor

   an 85' 2001 w/ 351w It has an EI dist. accel. I called accel to confirm it was a marine one. he said that he could not find that one because it was no longer made,  but thought that it was marine because it was rt hand . it has only one hole on the bottom about 1/8 th of an inch but has no screen . questions could it be automotive ? will they work in either direction by switching the gear ? Can I just put a flame screen over the hole ? 

If  i need a new dist. should I go w/ the mallory from skidim or points which I can't seem to find anyway ..
