Your missing the rubber o-ring that goes on the top of the post that the platform slides over. The o-rings job was to keep the platform from moving and vibrating around while under way and at idle. My 00 Air has the exact same problem and the dual exhuast from the python only makes things worse.

Pulling the tank is a PITA but do-able. I've pulled mine a couple of times it gets easier the more you do it.
First get "ALL" the gas out (its awkward enough with out it full of gas) Unbolt the tank straps (top and bottom) This will allow you to pull the tank out a little to access the wires, vent and fuel lines on top. Next PITA is to get the filler tube loose, if its like my '95 they have everything jammed in that corner (vent hose, bilge hose,ground wire,and filler hose) Disconnect the two fuel lines and vent hose on top along with the sending unit wires (hot and ground) Tank will now slide forward in its rack so you can remove it. |

I pulled the boat today and looked carefully at the brackets. You can clearly see the wear on the male side of this brackett (and my neighor's house in the reflection). There is wear on the female end as well. I am considering replacing both pieces of the brackets on both sides. I understand from the post above that the upper bolts have nuts on the inborard side and the lower are lagged. The gas tank is in the way. Any sense of what I would need to move or remove to get at the nuts?

Don't ask why, but I got to thinking about this last night....
And Paul, you pretty much cemented it for me, If any mounting hardware were to fail back there, wouldn't it be the screws coming out of the teak before anything else??? |

My 95 has the same type mounts but the slop is very little.
As for the mounts on the boat the top two bolts are through bolted, the bottom two are lags. |

I would definitely check the screws as well....may be an easier cheaper fix! My brackets seem to be pretty well adhered to the stern with 5200? as well as screwed in, and I would think to strip the screw and have an adhesive failure would take alot. JMO
But it would be nice to not have to buy those brackets at 90 bux a piece. Im betting a stripped screw might be letting in water too? |

I get what your referring to now! This makes total sense, but I'd guess it would take some serious strain to get them to stretch like that!

I think a little play in the platform is always normal...maybe a 1/2" at rear of platform. Always seemed to be the case on my 94 and similarly on my 97 (both had same brackets as you)
2 inches seems a little excessive to me, I would be willing to bet you hit the nail on the head with your mooring theory, that little bit of play over the years of being moored could conceivably stretch the brackets. Since each side only has one pin, that's the pivot point. I think the Female (platform side) brackets are available at Whitelake Marine...should be easy fix found em.... Brackets |

sounds like the same set up as our 96. I can visualize how it could move unless your screws holding the platform to the bracket are stripped?
get some pictures of it so we can see if there is anything unusual. |

A round track runs vertically on the stern. A sleeve on the platform slips over the track, with a slot where the track is secured to the bracket.
The pins have been inserted where they belong, but the play remains. |

They should have a pin in them that keeps everything secure. |

The platform on my 1997 Ski Nautique has always been loose. When I bought the boat, the brackets allowed for about one inch of play up and down. Since the boat stays on a mooring, it goes up and down as the boat rides the waves and the brackets are seemingly getting looser each year. Now the play is 2 inches plus. The platform is firm when someone stands on it and it's otherwise not a concern. Should this be fixed? If so, I'd rather replace only the brackets under the swim platform to avoid the hassle of replacing the brackets on the boat. Do you think that will be enough to fix it? Any idea where I can get brackets?
