Nice job on the bracket Chris. And remember, not all welds need to look pretty, they just need to last.

Egon - Here is a side view of the bracket. It is just a bolted lap joint. My welds are not very pretty, they always look better hidden under paint!
Thanks guys for the advice on the pad - I don't like to pry on something unless I know that is the correct method - have broken too many things in my day assuming this. |

Yup, just take something you can slip between the pad and the gunnel and pry it out. Try and take it out evenly. |

You are going to have to pry off the pad like a car door panel.

Chris that combing pad is held on by those christmas tree type fasteners. At least they were on my 89. I like your fuel filter bracket mod.

I like that! Can you get another picture from the front or rear angle?

I made a modification to the fuel filter bracket so that it is easier to remove. Cut the bracket & welded a 1 inch extension so it could be removed 'above floor'. I'll take the 'non original' points deduct - it's worth it for the convenience.
Chris Also - unrelated - how do I remove this combing pad? I can't find any fasteners on the back side of the gunnel. I want to recover it this winter. Thanks Chris |
