Thanks Pete, again!
Well it's definitely broken. Looking for a replacement now, read somewhere that Whitelake is the only one that carries it. However it's out of stock there. (According to their website, I'll give 'm a call to verify). Any other options? |

Probably what's happened is the outer "spring" on the cable that the helm gear teeth ride on is broken. The cable is being held together by the cable strands inside the spring, and when you turn right, it is bunching up like a knot between the two gears inside the helm.

Sander,
If it is the inner cable that's broken, sorry but there's no temporary fix. Pull the floor aft of the engine and take a look at the cable movement at the clamp block and at the tiller arm on the rudder to see what's going on. If nothings moving back there, then somethings happened in the helm itself. Report back. |

Im afraid my steering cable just broke. It does go out/left, but won't go back in/right. Any chance it's something else, that I'm missing something?
thanks! Edit: is there any temporary fix in case it is broken? Got clients tomorrow at 9am... |
