Love this page :-)

http://www.basicpower.com/firingorder.htm

I had never figured reverse order out, if i havent found this page.
Otherwise i would have had to follow the rockerarms.

Sorry for the stupid post. I replied to your 2nd post and then I read your 1st.

I experienced something very similar to what you are experiencing and it turned out to be a faulty coil. My speculation is that under light operating conditions the spark was hot enough to ignite the fuel but under heavy loading the fuel would not ignite. Anyway, a new coil solved the problem.

climbhigh,

Let us know how the boat performs. I am interested in knowing your top RPMs and what prop you are running. Which electronic ignition conversion did you install?

No Need for reply. Figured it out by removing valve covers and turning engine. Needed new valve gaskets anyway. Reverse rotation engine had me stumpped for a while. Am now slowly starting to come to grips with this engine. Time to hit the water.        Scott

Does any one know the correct firing order for a 1972 302 Conqueror. My engine seems to idle fine and run ok in neutral at higher rpm. However when under load it sputters and dies. Have installed electronic ignition and new Holley carb. Retimed engine, Gapped plugs, ETC...   Still no improvement. Could Ballist Resistor cause this?   Engine does not have firing order stamped on it anywhere that I can find. Local CC dealer can not find order on engine either. Need help if you got it.                           Thanks Scott.
