Eric, I'm looking forward to seeing pictures. If you're going to run it without water, unhook the belt.

Eric,
I wouldn't worry about the impellers at this time. Get it going first. If you are going to start and run it on land, you'll ether need two "fake-a-lakes" or two hoses connected to the two raw water inlet hoses.

The impellers may be fine. I think you've probably seen my posts on not believing in changing them out very often and not even removing them for layups.

If you just want to see if it will fire, remove the V belt on the RWP.

The manual in the reference section will be fine. If you were to start digging into the internals, then you would want to make sure of the proper model. marineengine.com would have it if needed.

Larry,

I'll take pictures monday when I go back to my buddies shop. It would be a great restoration project. It is a pretty cool boat. I hope to be able to talk to the customer and convince him to let me do some restoration on it over the winter. It's my buddies shop so I don't want to steal too much work or overstep my bounds but I sure could use a resto project to learn on before doing my own boat!

There is a manual for the 318 in the reference section. Its for a 67 but I am guesing there werent too many changes. Can we see some pictures of the boat? Pretty cool old boat.

I wondered what the deal was with that. I was not sure if it was 2 impellers or if it was a single impeller with a different shape that required 2 inlet ports.

A part of me reallllly wants to check the impeller, a part of me has NOOOOOO desire to check the impeller. I am nervous that if I take it apart and its good that I may not be able to get the O-ring to seal properly a second time ((assuming there is an o-ring in the pump, ive never opened one up)) but im concerned that if I fire it up and the impellers are extremely dry that they will do what they always do. Explode and enter every orifice of the motor that we don't want them to.

Eric,
Just make sure you squirt plenty of gas down the carb before the system primes itself.

Hey Guys,

I just picked up a 1969 Century Cheetah from a customer. The boat has not been run in at least 2 years and has not been registered in 8. So it has been a while.

It has a chrysler 318 motor making "210" horse power as advertised on the manifolds. I know its not a correct craft but we ALL know there is no better place to search for information on old inboards than this site

I am looking for any knowledge that you guys have on the motor. Any quirks or tricks to it that might help me get this bad boy to start? Or anything different than a normal carburated chevy/ford that i need to be weary of? If anyone has a link to a service manual that would be great. If you guys know what weight oil I should put in it? Can I run rotella 15-40 or straight 30? Just trying to do best by the customer

Thanks
Eric
