Wow, what a difference!!! It took a strong pull by hand to break it loose. After pouring some soapy water on the cutlass, I can spin it with one finger. I'm going to go ahead and check the alignment anyway. Looks like it's a tough job on a v-drive and I might need to go downtown and get one of the performers from cirque-de-solei to get their hands in there and see the gap on top and starboard side. |

Chad,
Get some water/light soap solution on the cutlass bearinng and see if it's easier to turn. A V drive will turn harder than a DD simply because you are turning the V drives gearbox components as well. When cold, it will be even harder to turn. However, to be safe, it's not a bad idea to check the alignment. |

I have been reading through the alignment threads on here and can't find much on the v-drives. My old boat was a direct drive and I had no problems spinning the prop by hand.
The new boat is a v-drive and when I was using the boat a couple of months ago, I was able to spin the prop by hand. It was no where near as easy as my old 2001 was, but still do able. After the boat sitting in the garage since Oct. 31, the prop is very hard to turn intially. Is there something that I need to lube on the boat that I am missing? Sorry about the newbie post, but this is a new boat to me. Thanks |
