Here's how the ad reads:
CLEVOR Part Beauty... All Beast! We named this new custom hybrid Clevor, since it was created using only the best features of the current Windsor, and former Cleveland built Ford 351 cubic inch engines. The strong bottom end and block of the Windsor engine have been retained. To this foundation we add Cleveland heads and valve train, a custom "Street Boss" intake manifold and 600 cfm Holley carburetor. The result is awesome! At 300 horsepower, Clevor is designed to offer "big" block performance from the more compact size and lighter weight of the 351 engine, at a price that won't put a "big block" dent in your budget. As with all Commander engine models, the Clevor carries a full, limited one year warranty. Commander Marine Engines 4780 NW 128th St. Rd. Miami, FL 33054 (in fine print) Currently under testing and evaluation in Correct Craft boats. Available Spring, 1987. |

Yeah, I brought up the valve cover and other differences last time someone thought they had a cleveland and not a windsor. There are quite a few ways to tell them apart.

Tom, Wouldn't it be easier to ID by the 8 bolts in the valve covers instead of 6? The 351-W intake is wider than a 302 intake.
I did try to scan earlier today, seems my scanner is not working. The Clevor ad is in the Correct Craft Tribune, Volume 26, Number 1, Page 5. Still looking for the other article. |

Me too. I'm familiar with the clevor, but I was not aware that any were production in boats. I'm not even certain any were made by ford and put in production cars. If yoor boat had a clevor or a cleveland in it you would easily be able to tell because the heads are rather small in comparison to any traditional v 8. The intake is also wider than a typical 302 or 351W. |

I was actually going thru some old paperwork.
I have an article somewhere that talks about only a few Cleveland's in 1974 SN's. I did find the Clevor ad by Commander Marine Engines, So, proof positive that Jody was not dreaming. |

Al,
Do you actually remember seeing the ad? It sure would be nice to find one. I did some searching on PCM "clevor" engine but nothing came up. BTW, where were you 4 months ago? |

I believe it was Commander Marine Engines who advertised the 300hp "Clevor"
At the time of the ad they stated: "Currently under testing and evaluation in Correct Craft boats. Available Spring, 1987." |

Hope I'm not speaking out of my ass...I'm no motor head and not in the league of most of the respondents to your post, but did you ever think about pulling the numbers off of your block and/or heads and running them by Ford. Also, I Googled Holman Moody and they are still in business. I would contact them, they may have some old timers who can chime in.

I'm going to have to visit Race City Marine. That's a good looking orange boat! I will have to let you know (some how) when the repairs are made. I guess I'll just keep watching this site.

We have quite a few Smith Mountain Lake (SML) and North Carolina members who are less than 3 hours away from each other from Roanoke through Greensboro to Charlotte....
We just built a new home on SML and are ready to host..... might be a good excuse to enlarge dock space! Steve |

I'll give you a little background on reunions. There are two "official" CCF reunions each year, Green Lake Wisconsin in mid summer and New England/Northeast in late summer. That one has moved around, but probably found a consistent home in Epsom, NH this past summer. Green Lake is the biggest. These have formal agendas, sponsors, raffles...They are set up on the site and you sign up and pay to go.
There are a number of "unofficial" reunions. No formal sign ups, no formal agenda, pretty much someone saying hey lets get together when and where. Sometimes interest builds, sometimes it doesn't work out. St John River Run is in March in FL. Its unofficial, but is growing to rival the others and now is scheduled to coincide with the Mt Dora boat show. See the thread on that one for details. White Lake NC. First time last spring, but looks like it has the potential to become a regular thing. There is another pretty regular well attended event in the fall at Lake Clinton (IN....IL??) Every couple of years (twice now) a couple of folks dropping in at reids on Norman has grown into quite a little gathering. And around the world (literally) and around the Calendar, folks get together in small groups anytime, anywhere, (beers in Chicago, boat show in Boston...) To make it happen, propose something anytime anywhere. If the time and place is right there will be interest. Sometimes they just fall together, other times, it takes some effort on the part of the organizer to make it happen. Firm time and place, places to eat, places to stay.... Green Lake started out as an unofficial gathering, but due to some very significant effort by the organizers, grew into an event that has drawn people from Australia, Belgium, England, CA, NC, FL, LA.... There are a ton of CCFans in central-ish NC. Give it a shot. I would really like to have one where we stay. There is a great little public island 75 yards off our dock that I would love to see ringed with CCs some day. In a no-wake zone so its quiet, but skiable water is about a hundred yards north and bathroom, running water, fridge is about 75 yard east. Problem is its a "neigborhood" lake and outside boats are not welcome. I tried to campaign the association to allow "an event" a couple years ago, but it didnt fly. I'm not going to give up tho. |

Some friends of mine have a place on Smith Mountain Lake. They've invited me to come up but I haven't made it yet.
Let me get the boat in top running order and we'll work something out. I'm new CorrectCraftFan.com; I see a tab called "Reunions"; is that the best way of arranging an outing or is there a better way? |

Careful these little NC gatherings grow fast! Let me know when and where and I will bring the skier down. Marty never misses a chance at these either.

Lake Norman is home to a few CCFans including reidp, a premier classic CC owner, owner of the 09 Orange Crush CCFan boat and partner in Race City Marine, a hobby turned the new CC dealer north of Charlotte. Anything you need for your boat, they can help you with (Mooresville). Badin is a little closer to where I visit. I try to spend a couple weeks a year outside Pinehurst, with the intent of moving there some day. Maybe we can coordinate a trip to Badin this summer after your get your boat right. I'd really like to see it (read: take a ride in it)

Charlotte. I prefer Badin Lake which is east of Charlotte. My friends and family prefer Lake Norman. We usually split our time between those two lakes.

boat speeds are like woman, if they tell you they've slept with 5 guys, you automatically double that, now if a guy tells you he slept with 20 woman, you divide that by 2 lol, I thought it was funny
