thanks john, she does put up with quite a bit without much complianing. here are some more pics of the yard car in its final days. custom paint job coutesey of the local highschool. the weather here has been fantastic so i'll have to get the cushman sold and find a golf cart pretty soon.

Maybe launch it and see if it floats?
That looks more like an in-factory tug and transport than anything you'd want to run on other than pavement. Still, neat little vehicle. If you were closer I'd consider it for our factory. Keep in mind when you are selling it, sometimes the chargers are worth as much as the vehicles. |

You are a riot with that "golf cart". I love it. It's a perfect farm car. My guess is that your three year old will be driving it himself in about 4 years.
Your wife must be a great sport, because she looks perfectly happy behind the wheel. |

got the thing running this weekend and just as i suspected, it sucks. it has no business being off road and travels at approximately the speed of smell. on a positive note, when working on it i noticed it has a cute little full floating rear axle and upon further inspection noticed it has a 3000lbs payload capacity. i am sure it is useful for something, just nothing that i need it for. i guess i will list it on craigslist when i get back from Vegas on saturday.

this is a pic of my first attempt at getting her a golf cart without paying top dollar. if you drink 12 highlifes, squint your eyes, and dawn a welding mask it would be hard to even tell its not a real golf cart but it didnt fool her for a second.

i called a battery outlet in the next town over and found they have 12 volt deep cycles for $75 and he will give me $15 each for the remaining four six volt cores. that knocks the price down enough to where i might consider getting it running even if it is not the correct fix. in the end i am still going to sell it since it is not what the wife wants for hauling her and the boys around the house. it was worth a shot since i only paid a 12pk of highlife for it.
FrankT, i am not sure you could tag this thing, besides it only goes 13mph so you wouldnt want to be in any sort of a hurry. |

Check the local golf cart customizers, They sometimes have used batteries that still have decent life left in them. The people buying tricked out carts usually want all new ones.

I use a pair of 6v Trojan 125's in my motorhome, they are 5 years old and have never failed me. They last forever and are the battery of choice with motorhome guys. I paid $75 each for them so I'm sure they aren't any cheaper now.

sorry gary the highlife is long gone.
i did look into the trojan batteries and found that they do have great reviews but cannot bring myself to spend $1000 on 8 of them. i am going to see if i can just daisy chain 4 12v deep cycle batteries to make my 48 volts and run it like that or else i will just see if i can sell the whole thing for $500 and be done with it. |

Batteries aren't cheap, but if you have a good charger and use it often they last quite a while. You could always take the old ones out, then use the Dog and the 3 year old to power the new light weight version.

i just unloaded this treasure in my garage this afternoon and started messing around with it. batteries wont take a charge and its begining to look like this thing is going to need 8 new 6v batteries. do any of you fellas have experiance with electric golft carts and have a good value battery reccomendation? the other option would be to just sell it as is minus the three year old and cattle dog.
