I took the pylon out yesterday. It was caused by the sky pylons and loose u-bolts. Any suggestions on putting back the plate at the bottom of the pylon.

Pete,
The pylon is tied to the stringers is in it? If it is lose or coming apart, he may have a stringer issue. Welcome

Do you want to save the pylon?
If so pull the factory pylon and extension in one piece then make up a sleve or half sleve that you can pound on.And use heat.

Glass repair Scuff and re-glass
Pics of bad area might help.

If it is a 2 piece pole remove the top section get a pin through the center attachment and try and lift-n-twist. If that doesn’t work try a heat gun, not a torch.
For the glass repair you will want to look at more than just around the pylon. My first guess would be that the extension was not installed or maintained properly and had too much deflection. Probably what caused it to slip down the pylon and lock up.....
Secondly if the stringers have not been replaced they will be and therein lies the rub if the stringers are bad the pylon will flex like a mofo
