...sometimes covers a hole. Was surprised to see our 01 SN doesn't actually have a hole behind the logo. We ended up removing the original (non-functioning) speedo and replaced with Stargazer which has tach and GPS speed included. |

That "N" covers a hole that you could install a perfect pass system.

I simply flipped up our white speedo pickups after we did the Faria (with paddlewheel) install as the pickups do nothing anymore. Also, yes Scott is right there is a little dial under the dash (or should be) to adjust the speedometer. Ours, however, is maxed out and still reads 2-3mph slow. Not sure how to fix that. Also, our tach is all over the place. Still haven't torn into that. |

There should be something that looks like this mounted under the dash. This is for adjusting the Faria speedo.

So the paddlewheel is providing your speed reading. Those white speedo pickups can be removed and the holes plugged, if you really wanted to. They are just there for decoration at this point.
As for adjusting the speedo I'd imagine that the gauge might have some sort of fine tuning screw on the back of it. Other than that I don't know. There's no real adjustment at the paddlewheel. |

I was more showing the pickup because of the spacing. Is that correct?
There is no perfect pass on the boat. There is a paddle wheel under/ behind the motor. The speedo is way off. At full tthrottletge speedo is showing 55+mph. My gps is showing around 44 mps. Is there anyway to fix this. |

The new Faria gauges run off of a paddlewheel, so if you didn't have PP, you had to install the paddlewheel for the new gauges.

Looking at the picture of his dash, I don't see any evidence of a PP system. |

Those white pickups are exclusive to that period of boat and the original gauges. They are original but may not be powering your Faria gauges with a speed reading. Instead it's probably coming from your Perfect Pass Paddle wheel. Basically the new gauge would tee into the signal from the paddle wheel. Those white pickups are probably doing absolutely nothing right now.

Your boat has more than 248 hours. Likely a lot more. Mine had about 400 hours on it when I finally gave up and installed the Farias.
The extra hole is typically for a perfect pass. BKH |

So lets refire this tread. I'm new 2000 SN owner. I'm guessing my my dash pod was changed over somewhere. Why is there an extra hole in the middle? Does the engine hours automaticly transfer to the new gauge? I bought the boat with 248 on the clock.
What I'm also seeing is the to speed pickups were for the digital gauges? Looking at the pickup, what's wrong with them? |

Me either, guess I should do some reading!
I'd like to have an actual gauge that lives with the boat. |

Joel mentioned on Page 2, that the Perfect Pass Display has an hour meter somewhere. I don't actually know how that works though. |

Keep the Stargazer, skip the paddlewheel, and just replace the tach. The Faria gauge looks better than the digital tach anyway, IMHO.

Brian, we're currently running Stargazer on the boat but the one thing it doesn't have is an hour meter!

Keep in mind, like Joel mentioned further up the chain, Perfect Pass Stargazer covers a lot of bases, including RPMs. Once you have that installed, any other tach and/or speedo, is strictly for aesthetics. Also, Stargazer doesn't need a paddlewheel, all the paddlewheel does in a Stargazer installation is read back lake temperature to the display. |

Lavorsi makes analog GPS stuff...is that what we're talking about? Ski teams use them on the hydrodynes.
Sorry I didn't read anything back, if this info is off track please ignore |

The ont thing you'll have going for you is the bottom of your hull isn't near as wacky as mine is...when I put my paddlewheel in the guy had to look long and hard for a spot that would work without blowing up the motor...I told him I didn't want to go that route.

That's what I was thinking. I guess the guy at classicboatworks retrofit them into the old airguides, maybe he could maybe do the same with a newer gauge?

Yea, I've never seen one rest any where other than 0. I'm assuming it has something to do with them just being installed. I'll stop over tonight and flick the switch on and see what happens...

I wish I was more technical and had ANY idea how this sort of stuff works so I could give you a suggestion, but I got nothing. I'm 90% certain that mine rest on the 0 when its off though.

We were going REALLY fast then shut the boat off.
That's a good question, something I didn't even notice in my excitement. I'm hoping that clears up when it gets dropped in the water. I haven't even turned the ignition on in the boat since the install so I guess we'll see what happens.... |

They are sharp, looks familiar... but why is your speedo pointed due south instead of at the 0?

Good luck Doc. Hope all is well, sorry to pass our water on to you! Maybe I'll pump some out and onto my gras. It has to be good fertilizer.

We got the newest river update today, looks like 65 feet at Natchez Miss. That puts it 5 feet above the great flood of 1927, our levee system here "should handle" the extra water donated to us from our northern states.
We do still have two flood control structures south of us. Bonne Carre floodway and Morganza Spillway will be used to take some of the pressure off our levee's here , still 250 river miles to The Gulf.............. 2.1 million cubic feet per second is flowing past Natchez at this level, and will only increase till May 21... Wish us luck..........Boat dr |
