I didn't know those were factory. They will stay then.

The prop just looks that way in the picture.

By the way on a reverse rotation engine which way does the dizzy spin. I have the wiring harness apart so I can't turn the boat over to tell.
Thanks this is a great forum.

Not sure about trim tabs. But in any event, you might as well fix that curl in the prop blade while you have the boat on the trailer.

PVC pipes in the manifolds?

As in Plastic elbows that connect the exhaust manifolds to the feed hoses for cooling water??

If so, those were factory, and work just fine. My 78 has them and I saw no reason to replace them when I painted my manifolds after I put on better heads and intake.

I am ready to get her in the water but I am working on re-wiring the boat and getting everything just right. I found PVC pipes connected to the manifolds and fuel systems issues. I was in the marine industry and I know when it's not right.

Just wanted to add...
I've witnesed insane porpoising, and correcting the carbuation and ignition made it dissappear. Poor state of tune can make a boat flop. No tabs, no ballast, no adding hook, no bull.

So if it bouces, don't rush to put them back on, first keep digging.

Some Ski Tiques will porpoise without weight in the back. Some will do it with 2 people in the front! In my book, thats a good thing- that makes for a faster hull. I say remove the tabs.

As far as MC's go, they are good looking boats. Good skiing too. Driving them is not much fun though- even on our 180 acre lake, they ride like crap. 80's MC's and Ski Supremes will almost break your back going over your own wakes.

Pete,

If the tubers beat me out, or even if they come out after me, being the courteous boater I am, and given my respect for tubers, I always leave so as to not mess up their good tubing water.

Neither one of my CC's 16' or 18' porpoised unless there was people in the back.

I would remove the metal pieces, repair the holes.

I'll jump in there with you. I always liked the original stars and stripes boats...mid 70s to early 80s. Low lean and mean. Someone on here was saying one reason they were inferior is they were flat bottomed and were no good for rough water and they had a low freeboard. Yeah...they are ski boats, how often are you out skiing in rough water and the low freeboard is just more desirable for a number of reasons. Don't want to get wet? Stay on the dock.

Nothing like that on my 77 Ski tique. When the boat porpoises (over 50 mph) people in the back seat helps.

The true test may be to remove them and see how differently the boat rides, May be that you'll want to put them back on, I do think they're there to fix a ride issue. They may bring the bow down for a better handling boat with a little sacrific of speed.

Homemade trim tabs, early version of the hydrogate LOL. My bet is the boat porpoises like heck without them so that was someones fix.

I guess I would ask the PO
It looks like they are an L bracket of sorts. Has the boats floor been worked on?

Sure don't look factory to me.

Looks like those cover up the speedo pitot pickups.

Do you have a speedo on the boat that works?

I have just purchased a 1979 Ski Tique. I was wondering what the two stainless metal tabs were on the lower transom. They stick down about a 1/4" below the hull

Pictures...

Thanks from a new Correct Craft owner.....
