So after 4 years of limited use(dang kids being born) I am in the process of fixing up my 86 SN. Someone on the boards suggested posting some pictures and some information about my project so you experts can help handle guide me thru this.
Part 1. Upholstery I went out and talked to a local Upholstery company to do the Upholstery on half the seats will do the rest next year(ya my budget manager(read Wife) would not approve it all). As you can see below the drivers seat was in really bad shape. Part 2. Dash (minor concern) I am redoing the dash by taking the mirror off and fixing the holes in the dash. I am now scouring the internet for some type of dark epoxy resin to put in the holes. The thing I am concerned about is once I get the resin in how to smooth it out as the dash does not look like it will react well to sanding to smooth out the resin. Part 3. Carpet and Flooring Because the boat was not in a shed/garage for most of the time over the winter for a few years of its life. The floor board behind the motor and the carpet in the bottom of the boat was damaged. The carpet also wore out because of this. I have taken out everything from the bottom of the boat. I am having trouble taking off the the piece where the drivers feet goes. Seems to be a screw back there I cant see. Floor behind motor even with a little damage to the floor board behind the motor it all looks good. I am going to replace that board. Will go find a Piece of marine lumber somewhere to replace it with. I know I need to keep the old carpet as a template. My concerns are: Getting carpet that looks the same. I think this sunset carpet is the same. Carpet Samples How do i get the old carpet out? Best way? How do I condition the floor for the new carpet? How do I lay the new carpet? How do I line up all the holes with what I have to put back in and doing it thru new carpet?? I am in the process of reading some threads on this like this one Carpet Replacement link Part 4. Radio/Speakers I have seen some pictures of people who have speakers right behind the drivers seat sorta under the rail. How do they get them to stay there? Carpet Samples Part 5 Odds and Ends Cleaning the haze off my boat and make it shine.. just a little white haze on the boat. Fixing all the silicone someone put on the boat where the upholstery on the rails go and also getting a few more of those Christmas tree attachments. Part 6 Get the boat back on the lake and teach my 6 year old how to ski! |
