Guys - I'm not sure on the HP. I did not have my manual in front of me when I wrote it originally. I do know it is a 351 EFI ProTec though.

A 95 EFI 285 hp means he likely has a Protec, right?

How do Protec problems typically manifest themselves?

Mark, if you're still having problems with her then you could always take her to Ray City Marine and have the guy's there look at it for you.

Not a moment of confusion but a moment of ignorance! Remember I'm a newbie so bear with me. I think the fuel is good, so I will look at filter(s) first, then plugs and wires, then fuel pump I guess. Thanks

I'm pretty sure he's EFI. The picture in his profile has EFI on it so I'm guessing it was a moment of confusion and to go with the idea that he is fuel injected

You being EFI relieves you from the typical carb cleaning issues that older boats face.

Fresh fuel doesn't necessarily mean you didn't get bad fuel. Did this issue happen with the first tank and this tank or just this tank?

Start with the fuel filter. Does A 95 only have one filter guys? Never owned so not sure.

After that go for plugs. I don't think that's it but it's always a safe place to start.

The gas is fresh.   Stored it on a full tank with stabil in it over the winter and have a fresh tank full in now. I guess I need to attack the fuel filter first, then maybe plugs and or plug wires. Less than 75 hours on the plugs though. Does this engine require "timing" or could my carb need cleaning? Just throwing some things out there for discussion. Thanks everyone. Finally figured out how to get my picture on the site.

Initially I'd lean towards a fuel issue.

How many hours have you put on the boat since those plugs were done 2 years ago?

Just curious:
Is this a GT-40 with a distributor or is it a Protec ignition?

Also, are you sure you have good gas in the tank etc.? Any gas that has been sitting a while is always suspect with the ethanol issue etc.

I have seen a lot of "fuel relay" convos flying around regarding the GT40. Is that something that can be checked first?

Hey folks,
My 95 Ford 351 EFI is a bear to start, and even when it is warm it does not fire up like it should. When I am idling I tend to get fluctuations in rpms. Plugs were replaced two years ago. Any advice?
Thanks,
Mark
