This is not my first roadeo, this is my third correct craft. Started with a ski tique, in 1979, then a 2001 nautique in 1985, Now a 1982 southwind. Hum going backwards now, But I always wanted this boat for a long time, Had seen it for years on the lake and finally was able to buy. Thx Jon

Jon,
That's about all you'll be able to suck out. You're doing good just change it a couple more times. I'm glad to hear you doulbe wrenched. Some haven't and learned the hard way about the thin copper shell of a trans cooler!! |

Yes I double wernched the lines, and they are new ones. Will flush the trans somemore . Thanks for all the help. What would be a good gage on amount of trans fluid. I have been getting boat leval on trailor and using dip stick for fill up. normally get about three quarters of a two liter coke bottle out. Thx Jon

Jon,
Getting water out of a trans can take multiple oil changes. Unless you swamp the boat, the cooler is the only place where you can get water into the trans. I suggest you do a presure check on the new cooler as recommended. It may be bad but, did you double wrench the oil lines on when installing the new one? If not, there's a goog chance you damaged it. |

Throught the year last year i changed it twice after running and it was not bad at all. Thought the trans cooler fixed the problem.

Sorry for the delay. I replaced the trans cooler with new one and changed the trans fluid again. (last year) To start this year I changed the trans oil again, and it looks like pink milk. Trans is velvet drive 1.0 to I think 1.0. Thanks for the replys.

Jon,
I went looking for your previous posts and did find, as mentioned, you had the same problem a year ago. previous thread What did you do throughout the year??? Nothing after our recommendations??? You treat Mastercrafts that way and NOT Correct Craft's!!!! |

Jon,
You said you put some of the fluid in a clear glass container. I'm assuming this was to see if the mix would seperate into oil and water layers. In won't because they put emulsifiers in the trans fluids to capture any water and blend it with the oil primarily for condensation that may form. The blend comes out looking like a strawberry milkshake. Keep us informed and do tell Eric what trans you have. He's worried - some can take water better than others. (this is a good reason to fill in your profile with a avitar and a diary entry - it eliminates us trying to search previous threads to figure out what boat/engine/trans you have) |

Jon,
You'd better check to see if there's a hole between the oil and water circuits in the trans cooler. The best way is to put some compressed air on the oil side while it's in a bucket of water. |
